I don't know if this has been mentioned (probably has), but Silkroad Online is a perfect example of how well this works. You put up a message with whatever you want to say (stays above your head), you put the items in the screen and set the price and wait.

Nah, I disagree, this would bring ppl that just dedicate their gaming life to "merch" items, buying low and selling high non stoping, and getting easy money and would make big outposts like LA even more laggy because of the big amount of ppl in it, lot's of districts, etc. I like it the way it is.
EDIT:
Btw, with the new party search thing they added, you can practically do that, even though just 1 item at a time, it's ok like that.

Yeah, Ranarok Online has this sort of system too.
Guild wars NEEDS that to cut down on spam. Maybe a "Trading District". Or certain towns labeled as Trading Towns. Anything but this system of spam.

Yea, silkroad was mentioned (look at my first post on this page). I like the party search function and this is about as close as we are going to get to a "trader stall" system, but I don't like how little space you have to say what you are trying to sell. Even when advertising for my guild, I can hardly say anything at all, imagine trying to sell a non-green weapon like a req 9 shadow bow, 15^50, +30 health 20/20 with maybe 10 characters of space? (I'm not selling one either, though I wish I was) If Anet made that space allow more characters it would probably help because you could either elaborate more on the one item you are selling or be able to list more than one.
Trading districts and trading towns sounds like a great idea, but I don't think enough people would use it because even in party search people try to sell stuff under the wrong tab.

that'll happen but people just have to adjust to it. I like the whole seperate district thing
IF this thing was implemented, it would also be up to the players to try and help people to use the stuff. People won't use stuff they don't know about it

Some ideas, suggestions, thoughts etc on this topic
There would need to be different districts for the private shop or a battle island type place accesable fom all campaigns for all players as soon as they start. It would have to require a fee to get a shop such as 50k to 100k. Shops could be upgradeable. Start out like a xunlai agent set up with maybe 20 seling slots and be able to upgrade your store by paying more money and having sold a certain # of items. upgrades could be to a tent, a shack, and event up to a small guild hall type set up that is walk in. the shop could have a npc teding to it like a merchant for players to "talk to" to display the shops inventory. its own inventory would display the items it has for sale with the price located next to it. A search function would probably be needed to be able to have a chance fo finding what you want other than going to every store in hopes of it having your weapon.for material sales such as iron ingots you could sell a stack of 250 for a certain price (making up random amount) say 1k or you could sell each one for 50g, or bundles of ten for 200g and the buyer could choose which they would want to buy. you could get a message such as one when a team win in the HoH telling you that a item was bought from your store, for how much, and which item to keep you updated on your store. for purchases over 100k something would have to be implimented because the price of ectos fluxuates and at one time 5 ectos could be worth 25k and another 5 could be worth 50k.

I'd rather have a global auction house than district-based shops, but that's just me.

I would agree that having it cost money would be a beneficial idea, but costing 50 Plat would be outragoues - almost no one but the elite would ever be able to do it. Maybe 100 gold (if temporary) for so many hrs or 5 K if permenant.

I've suggested this before.. http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...rid+of+the+bad
look at the pictures.
IT IS NOT HARD TO SELL WITH SHOP!!!! NOT AT ALL!
Shops come with chat, where you can see who's entering and when they leave and buy.

I have played Lineage II. Private shops is an awfull idea. Cities are cluttered and you have to search a lot for what you want. What will happen when more maps are introduced? You will have to travel several cities just to see what everyone has to offer.
I have played EVE-Online as well. This is a great selling system. You put your item on sale, for a certain price. People from ANY where see your item and can buy it. Downside... lot's of stress on servers.
Although it would be an improvement to what we have now, I am sure that ANet knows what setting private shops means. Anyway PLEASE don't implement private shops.

The overall idea sounds good.(Actually I am hoping this too)
But there must be some other concerns which are needed to pay attention to. For example, the large number of people that stay in one district so that the server is severely jammed.
Umm, maybe implement a trial on private shops???

private shops
i think if there were a central town near LA and other cross roads just for buying and selling with all the possible merchants in a easy to navigate landscape with acess to other continents or even a crossroads between lands would promote this area as just that and with in that town people could set up a shop and advertise like people look for a team it wouldnt be an AFK thing ppl still have to be there but traid windows are automatically opened with item to be viewed. i think that would encourage ppl to visit. a drawback i can see is that towns like asclon, LA, Droks, Elonas would vacate to this town leaving a void of players in other towns.

Interesting concepts but all very complicated. We already have dye traders, crafting material traders, rare material traders, rare scroll traders ... why not a simple weapons trader that works just the same way? And of course you'd want one in your guild hall too...
